The Hidden Life of a Witch — A Little More Magic Behind the Blue Door ✨
I’ve been keeping myself rather busy with a little magic lately, and I’m so excited to finally share the beautiful new cover of my very first adult colouring book, The Hidden Life of a Witch.
Some of you may remember me mentioning this little project a while ago. Well, I’ve been quietly adding the finishing touches, making a few changes and giving the book the beautiful golden cover I had always imagined.
And I absolutely love how it’s turned out!
Step inside…
Behind an old blue cottage door, with its rather handsome hare knocker, lives a witch.
But this isn’t a book about frightening spells or wicked witches. It’s about the curious, cosy and slightly peculiar little world she has created around herself.
There are cupboards full of secrets, shelves of strange ingredients, forgotten treasures, books of spells, a rather mischievous cat and, of course, a hare or two.
Wander through her kitchen, explore her library, peek inside her greenhouse and lose yourself amongst the herbs and flowers in her magical garden.
And do look closely…
You never quite know what you might find hiding in a corner!
38 little worlds waiting for colour
Inside the book are 38 detailed black-and-white illustrations, each one created to be coloured and enjoyed.
Every illustration is printed on its own page, with a blank reverse, so you can take your time bringing each little scene to life.
I’ve loved imagining all the tiny details, from the witch’s well-loved belongings to the creatures that share her home and garden.
Some are magical, some are rather ordinary, and some are just a little bit naughty!
I wanted this book to feel like somewhere you could escape to for a while. Somewhere to sit with a cup of tea, a handful of coloured pencils and absolutely no hurry.
A new golden cover
The book has recently had a little makeover, and I’m delighted to share its new gold-and-blue cover.
There’s something rather magical about that old cottage door surrounded by climbing roses, with a hare sitting patiently on the doorstep.
Perhaps he’s waiting to be let in.
Or perhaps he knows something we don’t!
A little piece of Mull
Living and painting here on the Isle of Mull, I’m constantly inspired by the natural world around me.
The hares, birds, wildflowers, ancient trees and ever-changing light all seem to find their way into my work.
Although this little witch’s cottage exists entirely in my imagination, I like to think there’s a little bit of Mull tucked away inside it too.
Coming soon…
The Hidden Life of a Witch is an 8.5 × 11-inch paperback, filled with 38 single-sided colouring illustrations.
The newly updated book has been submitted to Amazon for review, and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished printed version.
I’ll also be offering signed copies through my website for customers in the UK, while readers further afield will be able to order through Amazon.
Thank you so much to everyone who has encouraged me along the way. Creating this little book has been a wonderful adventure, and I hope it brings you a few peaceful, magical hours.
Look closely… magic hides in the little things.
With love and a little magic,
Sal xx 🌙🐇
